More about this course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

A familiar rule can become difficult when a question changes the role, the date or the exception. These practice tests help you distinguish advice from intermediary services, identify the FSP's and representative's responsibilities, and follow client-service decisions through disclosure, records, complaints and regulatory action.

The course contains 300 original English questions in six tests. Every question has one correct answer from four options, feedback on each option and a study prompt. It is designed for South Africa's RE5 Regulatory Examination for Representatives, using the public qualifying criteria and the 17 January 2026 preparation guide.

How the tests are organised

  • Four focused practice sets contain 50 questions each. Use them in short sessions to work through roles, licence boundaries, conduct, FIC duties, records, supervision and debarment.
  • Two mock exams contain 50 questions each with a 120-minute allowance. Each covers all eight official tasks and follows the published 15 knowledge, 20 comprehension, 10 application and 5 analysis question structure.
  • Each mock uses its own scenarios and conditions. Compare the explanations after your first timed attempt, then return to the relevant legislation before retrying.

Rules and distinctions you will practise

  • Distinguish the provider, key individual, compliance officer, representative and supervisor.
  • Apply disclosure, suitability, replacement and client-fund safeguards to the facts given.
  • Separate FIC customer due diligence, cash reporting, suspicious activity, confidentiality and record-retention triggers.
  • Use the 2024 Ombud Rules, including the R3.5 million ordinary limit and its stated exceptions, alongside complaint time limits.
  • Keep debarment grounds, procedural fairness, client continuity, notification periods and reconsideration distinct.

The FSCA FAQ states a 65% pass standard and requires at least 33 correct answers out of 50. The current preparation guide displays the effective whole-question result as 66%; both lead to the same 33-answer minimum. A practice percentage is a study result, not an official examination result or a prediction of passing. The 90-minute settings on the four practice sets are study allowances, not a second official examination format. Official task weights are not published; the task distribution here is editorial.

This is independent preparation, not an FSCA or Moonstone product, official examination questions or a substitute for the prescribed legislation. It covers RE5 rather than the RE1 management examination. It does not provide personal legal or financial advice. Rules can change: check the current official preparation sources and examination arrangements before booking. This course is in English; confirm your examination language with the examination body.
