More about this course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

Knowing a definition is useful; choosing the right action when costs, stock availability and service requirements conflict takes practice. This course helps you work through those decisions for CIPS L4M7 Whole Life Asset Management.

The 360 original questions cover warehouse design and flow, product identification and handling equipment, inventory classification and costs, forecasting and replenishment, and whole-life asset decisions from acquisition to end of life. Scenarios ask you to interpret evidence, compare feasible options and identify the assumption behind a calculation.

Start with focused practice

Four 60-question tests let you work on one area at a time:

  • Warehouse design, coding, tracking and materials handling.
  • Inventory types, ABC priorities and acquisition, holding and shortage costs.
  • Forecasting, reorder policies, MRP II, ERP, JIT and inventory performance.
  • Whole-life costs, asset risks, stakeholder needs, sustainability and exit options.

The 100-minute allowance for each focused test is a learning setting chosen for this course. You can review your reasoning before moving to the mixed tests.

Apply your knowledge under time pressure

Two different mixed mock exams each contain 60 questions with a 90-minute limit and a 70% practice benchmark. Their length and timing follow the published L4M7 Objective Response assessment. The allocation of topics within these practice exams is author designed; it is not an official CIPS weighting or prediction of your exam.

Questions include single-answer choices, clearly stated multiple-response tasks, statement combinations and choices that ask for the reason behind a decision. Calculation questions state the relevant units, time period and simplifying assumptions.

Learn from each choice

Every question includes feedback for every option, an overall explanation and a short study tip. Explanations identify the condition that makes the answer appropriate and the mistake behind the alternatives. Use them to distinguish concepts such as physical stock and usable stock, purchase price and whole-life cost, or a recorded scan and a valid inventory event.

For a practical study route:

  1. Attempt the focused tests after studying the corresponding module material.
  2. Review incorrect answers and record the rule or assumption you missed.
  3. Take the first mixed mock without consulting notes, then revisit weak topics.
  4. Use the second mock for a fresh timed attempt and compare the types of errors that remain.

The course follows the Level 4 syllabus currently linked by CIPS, labelled 2018 Syllabus, Version 2 in its 2023 publication. It is an independent practice resource and is not affiliated with or endorsed by CIPS. These are original learning questions, not official, recalled or leaked exam items. Practice results do not guarantee an examination pass.
