  • Calculate and interpret supplier profitability, liquidity, gearing and whole-life cost without confusing profit with cash.
  • Assess market evidence and apply consistent tender, scoring, recommendation and approval procedures.
  • Distinguish Incoterms delivery and risk points, payment instruments, customs evidence and contract-law questions.
  • Evaluate labour, environmental and governance evidence through relevant scope, auditing, dialogue and measurable outcomes.

More about this course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

A supplier can look profitable yet lack cash, a low quotation can conceal lifetime costs, and a signed code can leave worker risks unresolved. Practise deciding what the evidence supports before choosing a sourcing response.

This English practice course contains 360 original questions across six tests, aligned to the CIPS Ethical and Responsible Sourcing module, L4M4, in the Diploma in Procurement and Supply. The scope follows the official 2018 syllabus, Version 2, linked from the current module page and checked in October 2026.

Build skills before testing readiness

  • Test 1: sourcing options, make-or-buy analysis, supplier capability, financial viability and award criteria.
  • Test 2: spend and market evidence, tender procedures, weighted evaluation and award recommendations.
  • Test 3: compliance, international sourcing, Incoterms 2020, payment methods, codes, audits and ESG outcomes.
  • Tests 4–6: three mixed, 60-question practice mocks, each set to 90 minutes with a 70% pass setting.

The mock length, time and pass setting use the published CIPS objective-response format. The topic distribution and question mix are author designed and do not reproduce an official exam blueprint. The focused tests allow 105 minutes with a 70% study target; those are course practice settings.

Learn from each decision

Every question includes feedback for each option, an overall explanation and a short study tip. Work through the focused tests first. For errors, identify whether you missed a formula, an evidence boundary, a mandatory condition or a sourcing trade-off. Then attempt a mock within its time limit and review the remaining gaps before taking another.

Expect single-answer and select-two items, including financial calculations and procurement scenarios. You will compare actual capacity with commitments, quoted price with whole-life value, document compliance with product assurance, and policy statements with verified outcomes.

This is an independent practice resource, with no affiliation with or endorsement by CIPS. It contains original practice items rather than official or recalled exam questions. It complements study of the module; a practice score does not guarantee an exam result. AI was used in developing the questions and visual material.
