  • Interpret CPM networks, critical and near-critical paths, total float and free float using explicit assumptions.
  • Distinguish precedence-based dates from feasible schedules under limited resources, calendars and interface constraints.
  • Evaluate schedule-risk probabilities, contingency, correlated risks and multi-path completion effects.
  • Apply appropriate progress evidence and interpret EVM, SPI and BEI alongside milestone forecasts.
  • Compare recovery alternatives and preserve authorized baseline changes with a traceable history.
  • Resolve schedule handoffs, communicate decision impacts and complete contractual schedule closeout.

More about this course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

A schedule can look convincing while hiding a missing handoff, an overloaded specialist or an unrealistic delivery promise. This practice course helps you recognize those conditions and choose a defensible next step. Work through scheduling decisions that connect scope, logic, resources, risk, progress evidence and stakeholder commitments.

320 original questions across six tests give you focused practice followed by an integrated assessment. The course follows the five domains in the PMI-SP Examination Content Outline currently linked by PMI: Schedule Strategy, Schedule Planning and Development, Schedule Monitoring and Controlling, Schedule Closeout, and Stakeholder Communications Management.

What you will practice

  • Establish clear schedule-control rules, baseline authority, update responsibilities and useful reporting conventions.
  • Build and interpret dependency networks, forward and backward passes, critical paths, total float and free float.
  • Account for resource limits, work calendars, relationship offsets and cross-project handoffs before accepting dates.
  • Interpret completion percentiles, correlated risks, merge effects, contingency and changing delivery confidence.
  • Evaluate progress evidence, earned value, SPI, BEI, recovery options and authorized changes without confusing work value with calendar delay.
  • Close out schedule obligations, preserve useful history and explain decisions to the stakeholders who can act on them.

Six tests with a clear purpose

The five focused tests contain 25 strategy, 45 planning, 40 monitoring, 15 closeout and 25 communication questions. Use these in shorter study sessions to identify gaps and practice the reasoning behind each decision. Some questions build essential foundations; others combine multiple constraints or ask you to diagnose a misleading model or report.

The final 170-question mock allows 210 minutes, matching the question count and exam time published on PMI's current certification page. It mixes all five domains using rounded practice proportions. Every question in this course counts toward your practice result; the mock does not reproduce PMI's 150-scored/20-unscored allocation, confidential item selection or psychometric scoring. The 80% practice checkpoint is a study target, not an official PMI pass score.

Explanations that show the reasoning

Every question includes feedback for every answer choice, an overall explanation and a focused study tip. Calculation questions state the assumptions needed to solve them, such as day-zero time, resource capacity, calendar rules, dependency types and probability relationships. Practice distinguishing an unconstrained CPM forecast from a resource-feasible schedule, and a deadline gap from time that can actually be recovered.

How to use the course

  1. Attempt the focused tests before opening explanations, noting the condition that determines your answer.
  2. For missed questions, compare your reasoning with every choice's feedback and follow the study tip.
  3. Take the final mock in one timed session, then review gaps by domain and judgment task.
  4. Revisit difficult decisions with the assumptions changed, rather than memorizing answer positions.

This is an independent English-language practice course. It is not sponsored, endorsed or approved by PMI and contains no confidential exam questions. Three original single-answer questions from this course. Your answers stay in this page and are cleared when you leave.

Choose one answer1 of 3

A scheduler receives a revised delivery date by chat. The approved plan requires change-board approval for baseline dates. What should happen to the baseline now?

Before you begin

  • Familiarity with basic project scheduling terminology and project-management concepts.
  • Comfort with simple arithmetic, dependency relationships and interpreting time or budget-based indicators.
  • Paper or a calculator for working through the numerical questions; no proprietary scheduling client is required.
  • This is a practice-test course; use it alongside your scheduling study materials and professional experience.

Who this is for

  • Project schedulers preparing for the English-language PMI-SP examination.
  • Planning engineers and project-control practitioners who want to strengthen schedule reasoning.
  • Project managers who work with resource constraints, progress reports and delivery commitments.
  • Learners who want to understand why an answer fits the stated conditions and why alternatives fail.
