  • Translate risk appetite and capacity into usable project thresholds and decision boundaries.
  • Identify threats and opportunities using relevant evidence, assumptions, constraints and stakeholder input.
  • Distinguish causes, events, consequences, triggers and useful risk-register attributes.
  • Interpret qualitative ratings, confidence, urgency and objective-specific impact criteria.
  • Calculate and interpret probability, EMV, decision-tree costs and model-based confidence.
  • Analyze dependencies, sensitivity, data limitations and tradeoffs across project objectives.
  • Select and execute responses within their timing, resource and authority conditions.
  • Monitor response effects, residual and secondary risks, reporting needs and evidence-based closure.

More about this course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

Knowing a risk-management term is only the starting point. The harder task is deciding whether evidence is relevant, who has authority to act, how uncertainty affects objectives, and whether a completed response actually reduced exposure.

Build that judgment with 360 original questions across six tests. Four focused practice sets help you work through the risk lifecycle. Two full-length mock exams bring the domains together in 115-question, 150-minute sessions.

What is inside

  • Strategy and planning: 30 questions on evidence, risk appetite, capacity, thresholds, roles and stakeholder engagement.
  • Identification: 35 questions on interviews, telemetry, assumptions, constraints, triggers and useful risk records.
  • Analysis: 35 questions on qualitative priorities, probability, expected monetary value, decision trees, simulations, dependencies and objective tradeoffs.
  • Response and monitoring: 30 questions on response selection, execution, performance evidence, residual and secondary risks, reporting and closure.
  • Mock Exam 1: 115 questions emphasizing planning under uncertainty.
  • Mock Exam 2: 115 questions emphasizing changing evidence during delivery.

Every question includes an overall explanation, feedback for each answer option and a focused study tip. Calculation questions state the assumptions needed to work through the result. Single-answer and multiple-answer questions are included; multiple-answer items explicitly tell you how many answers to choose.

Practice a decision, then examine its conditions

Some questions test a core distinction directly. Others ask you to choose among actions that differ in timing, evidence, authority, feasibility or the objective they address. You will examine both threats and opportunities in predictive, agile and hybrid project settings.

For example, a response below its spending limit may still need approval if its technical scope has changed. A lower forecast may reflect removed scope rather than successful treatment. A useful warning indicator may arrive too late for the response it is meant to activate.

Suggested study route

  1. Complete the focused sets and read the feedback for the options you considered, not just the correct answer.
  2. Revisit weak areas using the study tips and relevant official learning material.
  3. Attempt each mock exam in one timed session, then explain which condition makes the correct action appropriate.
  4. Retake after addressing the reasoning gaps rather than memorizing answer positions.

Scope and scoring

The course follows the five domains and 19 tasks in PMI's currently linked PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline, marked Updated January 2023 and checked on October 10, 2026. Each mock uses an integer approximation of the published domain weights. The focused-set lengths and time limits are author-set practice choices.

The real examination has 115 questions, including 15 unscored pretest questions, and a 150-minute examination period. In this course, all practice questions count toward your learning score. The 80% practice target is a self-assessment goal, not PMI's passing score or a prediction of certification success. The tests do not reproduce the official examination's break or section-navigation controls.

This is independent preparation material, not an official PMI course. The questions are original practice scenarios, not recalled live examination questions. PMI and PMI-RMP are marks of Project Management Institute. No affiliation, endorsement or guaranteed examination result is claimed.

A hospital expansion reuses estimates from a warehouse project. Before risk identification, what should the risk manager establish?

Before you begin

  • Basic familiarity with project planning, stakeholders, schedules and project objectives.
  • Willingness to work through scenario reasoning and simple arithmetic; a calculator can help during review.
  • Use the official PMI-RMP outline and appropriate learning resources alongside these practice tests.

Who this is for

  • PMI-RMP candidates who want focused practice followed by two full-length mock exams.
  • Project risk professionals strengthening evidence-based analysis and response decisions.
  • Project managers and team members who already know basic risk terminology and want to test its application.
