  • Choose load, stress, spike, endurance, scalability, capacity and concurrency tests from their objectives and conditions.
  • Define response, completion, throughput, failure and resource metrics with clear units, boundaries and populations.
  • Build operational and load profiles from roles, task intensity, timing, background work and relevant data characteristics.
  • Apply throughput/concurrency models while recognizing their assumptions and practical limits.
  • Evaluate script structure, dynamic context, parameter data, result checks and test-environment readiness.
  • Analyze bottleneck evidence, distinguish hypotheses from confirmed causes, and report results and residual risks to stakeholders.
  • Assess performance-tool compatibility, usable scale, monitoring, integration, team skills and cost.

More about this course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

A fast average can hide failed transactions. A high virtual-user count can still deliver too little work. A successful protocol test can leave the user interface unmeasured. This course helps you recognize these traps and make defensible performance-testing decisions.

Build your preparation around the ISTQB Certified Tester Performance Testing (CT-PT) v1.0 / 2018 syllabus. You will practice performance measurements, test types, architecture risks, workload design, scripting concepts, execution monitoring and evidence-based reporting.

Six tests with distinct purposes

  • Concepts, Test Types and Measurements — 60 questions: distinguish performance dimensions and testing purposes, define useful metrics, and interpret aggregation without losing important failures.
  • Lifecycle Risks, Objectives and Planning — 60 questions: connect risks to architecture and lifecycle activities, derive stakeholder goals, and assess realistic test plans.
  • Operational Profiles, Load Models and Scripts — 60 questions: model task mixes and time distributions, reason about throughput and concurrency, and validate state, data and script behavior.
  • Preparation, Execution, Analysis and Tools — 60 questions: check delivered load, monitor transitions, interpret bottleneck evidence, report limitations and evaluate tool suitability.
  • Mock Exam 1 — 40 questions: apply the official learning-objective distribution with a 90-minute timer and a 65% practice pass threshold.
  • Mock Exam 2 — 40 questions: use different conditions and evidence tasks to consolidate the same official distribution, again with 90 minutes and a 65% threshold.

Each question has an explanation for every option, an overall reasoning explanation and a study prompt. Calculations state their assumptions and units; small Python models illustrate parameter data and result checks. The course assesses performance-testing decisions rather than training you in a particular load-tool interface.

How to use the questions

  1. Work through the topic tests and explain the decisive condition before viewing feedback.
  2. Review incorrect choices, especially measurement boundaries, work-rate units and assumptions about successful completion.
  3. Attempt each mock in one sitting, then use its explanations to revisit weak areas of the syllabus.

The first four timers are generous study allowances, not official exam durations. The two mocks follow the published CT-PT question count, learning-objective allocation, duration and pass threshold. All questions use a single best answer; this course does not claim to reproduce an undisclosed official question-type split or predict your exam score.

This is an independent practice-question course, not an official or accredited ISTQB training course. It contains original practice questions, not confidential exam questions. ISTQB certification requires the applicable Foundation Level prerequisite and a separately booked official exam. Check your exam provider's current booking conditions and any language-based time extension.

A controller must acknowledge an input within 40 ms at the specified traffic rate. Which performance dimension is directly constrained?

Before you begin

  • Understand Foundation Level testing concepts and terminology; the official CT-PT exam requires the applicable CTFL certificate.
  • Be comfortable with basic arithmetic, rates, percentages and reading short illustrative code expressions.
  • Use the official CT-PT syllabus alongside the practice explanations; no paid load tool or special client is required for this course.

Who this is for

  • CTFL holders preparing for the English ISTQB Certified Tester Performance Testing (CT-PT) exam.
  • Testers moving into performance testing who need practice with workload, measurement and analysis decisions.
  • QA engineers, technical testers and operations collaborators who want to interpret performance evidence more carefully.

Questions
