  • Select suitable Spark ML training and inference approaches under data, algorithm, and latency constraints.
  • Diagnose pipeline, tuning, resource, and experiment-tracking mistakes using specific evidence.
  • Apply point-in-time lookup, online freshness, replay, and on-demand feature contracts.
  • Design tests, environment bindings, and candidate gates for reproducible ML releases.
  • Interpret drift, delayed-label performance, slices, and custom monitoring metrics.
  • Evaluate custom-model packaging, serving requests, rollout strategies, and operational failures.

More about this course

Choose the next ML engineering action with confidence: fix a pipeline dependency, prevent historical feature leakage, interpret a drift signal, or recover a failing model rollout. This English practice course develops the decisions covered by the Databricks Certified Machine Learning Professional exam. This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

360 original single-answer questions across six tests combine focused practice with two timed mock exams. Every question includes feedback for each option, a worked explanation, and a review tip. Selected technical topics link to official documentation for further study.

What you will practice

  • Spark ML pipelines, estimators and transformers, tuning costs, evaluator choices, and batch or streaming inference.
  • Optuna with MLflow, Ray tuning, resource budgets, data versus model parallelism, and group-specific models.
  • Experiment provenance, custom PyFunc behavior, point-in-time features, online publication, streaming aggregation, and on-demand feature contracts.
  • Production training architecture, testing boundaries, environment isolation, bundles, and automated retraining gates.
  • Data profiling and model monitoring: drift-test interpretation, baseline versus consecutive comparisons, delayed labels, slices, and custom metrics.
  • Custom model packaging, request formats, access boundaries, canary and blue-green rollouts, and serving-health diagnosis.

Six-test learning path

  1. Spark ML, Evaluation & Scalable Training — 60 questions. Establish development and resource-planning fundamentals.
  2. Feature Engineering & Experiment Contracts — 60 questions. Work through temporal retrieval, replay, freshness, and training-serving parity.
  3. MLOps Lifecycle, Testing & Monitoring — 80 questions. Practice release evidence, environment bindings, candidate gates, and monitoring interpretation.
  4. Serving, Rollouts & Operational Diagnosis — 42 questions. Connect packaged models to consumer contracts and investigate operational failures.
  5. Mock Exam 1 — 59 questions, 120 minutes. Apply release decisions, calculations, and configuration reasoning.
  6. Mock Exam 2 — 59 questions, 120 minutes. Diagnose constraints and failure boundaries across the lifecycle.

The mock exams each contain 26 model-development questions, 26 MLOps questions, and 7 deployment questions. This is the course author's rounding of the published 44% / 44% / 12% domain weights. The 80% practice target is an author setting, not an official passing score or a pass guarantee. Focused tests use study-oriented time allowances and are intended for practice in manageable sessions.

How to use the course

Attempt a focused section before opening its explanations. For each mistake, identify the condition you overlooked and explain why the nearest alternative fails. Use the official reading links to close knowledge gaps, then take the two mock exams without consulting notes or feedback until you finish.

The course follows the September 2025 exam guide, effective September 30, 2025, linked by the certification site when checked on October 10, 2026. Where current documentation uses newer names, explanations distinguish Declarative Automation Bundles from the guide's Databricks Asset Bundles, and data profiling from Lakehouse Monitoring. Legacy online-table scenarios are identified explicitly.

This course is suited to candidates who already understand Databricks and machine learning workflows. It provides practice questions rather than video instruction or a managed cloud lab. Python and SQL snippets support output tracing and contract reasoning; workspace-dependent examples require a suitable environment if you choose to try them yourself.

Independent exam preparation. BrightRung Learning is not affiliated with or endorsed by Databricks. The questions are original practice material, not confidential exam questions or exam dumps. Databricks names and marks identify the subject of study.

Choose one answer1 of 3

A data scientist needs logistic regression on 2 TB of prepared rows that cannot fit on the driver. Which starting approach fits?

Before you begin

  • Working knowledge of Python, SQL, machine learning evaluation, and Databricks workflows.
  • Familiarity with Spark DataFrames, MLflow, and Unity Catalog is strongly recommended.
  • A Databricks workspace is optional for answering questions; hands-on experimentation requires appropriate access.

Who this is for

  • Data scientists preparing for the Databricks Certified Machine Learning Professional exam.
  • ML engineers responsible for features, experiment tracking, deployment, and model lifecycle decisions.
  • Platform and data engineers who support production ML pipelines, permissions, monitoring, and serving.
  • Experienced Databricks users who want to identify and review certification knowledge gaps.
