  • Choose keys, partitioning and cleanup policies that match ordering and recovery requirements.
  • Derive safe consumer progress and producer delivery outcomes across retries, crashes and ownership changes.
  • Select serialization contracts and reason about schema evolution across retained writer versions.
  • Evaluate Streams joins, state recovery and event-time behavior under explicit conditions.
  • Configure Connect data paths and distinguish record errors, task failures and external delivery boundaries.
  • Interpret application metrics and select tests that exercise the behavior being claimed.

More about this course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

Knowing what an offset or transaction means is only the start. A developer also needs to choose a safe action when workers finish out of order, a schema changes, a connector stops, or a delivery result is uncertain. These practice tests turn those situations into explicit decisions about data, state and recovery.

Practice the boundaries that make Kafka applications reliable.

Work through 360 original questions in six sets. Each question includes an explanation for every answer option, a complete reasoning explanation and a short study tip. Review the condition that makes an option correct, including the assumptions under which another approach would fail. Further-study references point to official technical documentation.

Your practice path

  • Kafka fundamentals and data contracts — 60 questions: partition order, event identity, keys, compaction, retention, acknowledgment requirements and secure client access.
  • Producer and consumer development — 60 questions: asynchronous results, safe offset frontiers, serialization, compatibility, transactions, tuning, Admin operations and client deployment.
  • Kafka Streams and application testing — 60 questions: stream versus table semantics, joins, state recovery, windows, clocks and test boundaries.
  • Kafka Connect and observability — 60 questions: source and sink progress, connector lifecycle, converters, transforms, error policies and application metrics.
  • Two mixed mocks — 120 questions total: combine the six domains with changed recovery, state, configuration and failure conditions.

Use the explanations to close gaps

Start with the topic sets and write down why each rejected option fails. Then attempt each mixed mock in one 90-minute sitting before reviewing its answers. The suggested 80% practice target is a learning benchmark. Revisit uncertain decisions after consulting the study tips and references; a memorized answer without its conditions is not the same as understanding the behavior.

Scope and assumptions

The coverage follows the issuer's public CCDAK blueprint dated April 14, 2025, linked from the current exam product when checked in October 2026. Version-sensitive examples use Java Kafka clients and Kafka Streams 4.0.x as a clearly stated technical baseline. That release is an editorial choice, not an official exam-version requirement. Classic consumer-group behavior is specified where it matters.

The two 60-question mocks are original study designs. Their question count and practice target are not claims about an official exam form or passing score. These sets use single-answer and multiple-answer interactions and do not reproduce matching or build-list interfaces. This is independent preparation, with no affiliation, endorsement or pass guarantee from Confluent or the Apache Software Foundation. The questions are not real exam items.

Choose one answer1 of 3

Two records for one account are written to different partitions. What ordering can the reader rely on?

Before you begin

  • Basic familiarity with Kafka topics, partitions, producers and consumers.
  • Ability to read Java-oriented API names and simple configuration examples; no paid environment is needed to take the tests.
  • Existing study or practical experience with Kafka application development. These practice tests complement learning and hands-on work.

Who this is for

  • Developers preparing for the Confluent Certified Developer for Apache Kafka (CCDAK) examination.
  • Software and data engineers who want to test application-level Kafka reasoning beyond terminology.
  • Kafka practitioners reviewing client recovery, Streams, Connect and observability decisions.
