  • Evaluate network dependencies, logistical location choices and whole-network value.
  • Distinguish make/buy, insourcing, outsourcing, vertical integration and offshoring using their actual boundaries.
  • Compare capacity scale, timing, increments, inventory smoothing and break-even assumptions.
  • Align operations capabilities with business aims, market needs and the five performance objectives.
  • Distinguish local improvements, genuine trade-offs and changes to feasible performance.
  • Apply resource planning, scheduling and interface decisions to realistic constraints.
  • Contrast push/pull, TOC, MRP, MRP II and ERP and assess their data and capacity limits.

More about this course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

AI assisted the creation of questions, explanations and the cover background, and the content checks in this production process. This is not a claim of review by a human subject-matter expert.

Supply network decisions rarely turn on one attractive number. A cheaper site can miss a service promise, a larger plant can create idle commitments, and a sound material calculation can fail when stock is unavailable at the required date. This course helps you practise those distinctions across the current CIPS Supply Network Design (L6M9) syllabus.

You receive 330 original questions in five tests:

  • Network design and capacity: 70 questions on network links, configuration, ownership, location, capacity choices and relevant cost.
  • Operations strategy and improvement: 70 questions on market alignment, capability, performance objectives, trade-offs and the efficient frontier.
  • Resource planning and control: 70 questions on demand translation, loading, sequencing, scheduling, interfaces, MRP, MRP II, ERP and the theory of constraints.
  • Two adapted timed practice sets: 60 answerable selection items each, with a 90-minute practice timer.

Each question includes an explanation connecting the deciding conditions to the answer, feedback for every option and a syllabus-based study prompt. The timed sets add such conditions as common upstream constraints, non-avoidable costs, late or quarantined supply, resource calendars, changing bottlenecks and conflicting service objectives.

How to use the tests

Work through a topic set in manageable sections and explain why each alternative fails. Review the relevant syllabus and study resources when the deciding condition is unclear. Then use the timed sets without consulting notes and revisit the decisions you missed, rather than memorising answer positions.

Exam format and adaptation

This course follows the official 2018 Syllabus Version 2, provided in the February 2026 Level 6 guide, and the current 2026 qualification specification. L6M9 is a 90-minute Objective Response elective. Its official 60 marks comprise 35 one-mark multiple-choice or multiple-response items, two short scenarios worth 10 marks each, and a scenario worth 5 marks.

Each timed practice set contains 35 standalone selection items, 20 adapted matching-scenario decisions and five integrated-scenario decisions. Udemy presents all 60 as equally weighted selection items. Matching is adapted to single- or multiple-choice decisions; there is no drag-and-drop interface or shared option-use restriction. The practice scoring and 70% training target are not a reproduction or prediction of CIPS grading. The three 70-question topic sets are extended practice, not official-length exams.

This is independent preparation, not an official CIPS product or an endorsement. The questions are original practice material, not actual or recalled examination questions. It complements your study resources and wider reading; it does not guarantee a pass or confer the qualification. All content is in English.
