  • Trace aggregation stages, array predicates, projections and targeted document updates.
  • Compare index designs using query conditions, execution evidence and write costs.
  • Select monitoring evidence and interpret profiler, alert and workload boundaries.
  • Evaluate backup recovery requirements, replica-set voting and replication lag.
  • Assess shard-key distribution, query targeting and sharded-cluster component roles.
  • Distinguish authentication, TLS, storage encryption and resource-specific authorization.

More about this course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

Knowing what an index, replica set or backup does is only the starting point. A DBA must also decide whether a query is actually covered, whether surviving members can elect a primary, and whether a backup can restore the service within its recovery requirements. These practice tests help you make those decisions from concrete conditions and evidence.

Practise self-managed MongoDB administration across all six exam domains. Work through aggregation and document queries, index and query optimization, monitoring and tuning, reliability and recovery, sharding, and security. Examples use MongoDB 8.0-compatible mongosh syntax. The official exam guide does not prescribe a server version.

What is included

  • 330 original practice questions across six tests.
  • Four focused drills of 45 questions each, with a self-defined 70-minute limit.
  • Two full mocks of 75 questions each, with a 90-minute limit matching the current official exam structure.
  • Single-answer and explicitly numbered multiple-answer questions.
  • An explanation for every option, an overall explanation, and an objective-based study tip.

Questions ask you to trace pipeline output, distinguish array-matching conditions, interpret examined-versus-returned counts, compare index costs, and choose evidence at the correct process or database scope. Operational scenarios cover recovery points, dependent restore phases, voting eligibility, replication receipt versus application, shard-key tradeoffs, authentication databases, TLS and precise role grants.

A practical study path

  1. Complete the focused drills and record the objective behind each mistake.
  2. Read every option's feedback, including choices you rejected for the wrong reason.
  3. Review the relevant MongoDB documentation and repeat the underlying reasoning with changed conditions.
  4. Take each full mock under its time limit and review weak domains before another attempt.

The 80% target is a course-defined study goal, not an official passing score or a pass guarantee. This is a question-based course; it does not include video lessons or a hosted database lab. It targets the Associate Database Administrator scope, with the limited Atlas-versus-database-user distinction included in that guide, rather than the separate Atlas Administrator exam.

Two documents contain tags:["a","b"] and tags:["a"]. A pipeline unwinds tags, then groups by tag with n:{$sum:1}. What counts result?

Before you begin

  • Understand basic MongoDB documents, collections and CRUD operations.
  • Be able to read short mongosh expressions and operational scenarios in English.
  • Have access to MongoDB documentation for follow-up study; a running database is optional for these tests.

Who this is for

  • Candidates preparing for the MongoDB Associate Database Administrator exam.
  • Junior DBAs and operators reviewing self-managed MongoDB administration decisions.
  • Developers moving into database operations who want structured diagnostic practice.
