  • Evaluate MPRs, prerequisites, project boundaries, rating-system selection and the additional v5 Platinum conditions.
  • Connect early design goals with climate resilience, human impact, carbon assessments and tenant coordination.
  • Apply sensitive-land, density, transit, bicycle, parking, EV and equitable-development decision rules.
  • Assess habitat, construction pollution controls, heat, exterior light, rainwater and accessible outdoor-space strategies.
  • Calculate water reductions and evaluate efficient fixtures, process water, reuse, metering and leak-response evidence.
  • Distinguish energy metrics, electrification conditions, thermal loads, renewable attributes, refrigerant impacts and commissioning responsibilities.
  • Compare embodied-carbon boundaries, EPD evidence, material reuse, low-emitting products and waste-management flows.
  • Evaluate comfort, daylight, acoustic expectations, inclusion, ventilation, IAQ and outage/event resilience across the current BD+C scope.

More about this course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

A project can look sustainable while still missing the condition that determines LEED compliance. The wrong boundary, a future tenant assumption, an incompatible EPD, or a mistaken calculation denominator can change the answer. These practice tests help you work through those decisions for the LEED AP® Building Design + Construction specialty based on LEED v5.

Practice the decision, then explain it

The course contains 360 original single-answer questions in six tests. Every question includes feedback for each option, an overall explanation that connects the project conditions to the answer, and a study suggestion. Questions combine rule recognition with project scenarios, evidence checks and calculations. Use the explanations to identify why an attractive alternative fails under the given conditions.

Four focused sets and two timed mocks

  • Process, integration and location: 40 questions on eligibility, scope, assessments, tenant coordination and mobility.
  • Sites and water: 40 questions on habitat, site controls, rainwater, outdoor access, efficiency, reuse and measurement.
  • Energy and atmosphere: 40 questions on performance metrics, electrification, renewables, refrigerants, commissioning and grid interaction.
  • Materials and indoor environment: 40 questions on life-cycle impacts, procurement, reuse, waste, emissions, comfort, inclusion and resilient spaces.
  • Timed Mock 1: 100 questions in 120 minutes, mixing the eight current knowledge domains.
  • Timed Mock 2: 100 questions in 120 minutes, using different decision conditions and evidence states.

Start with the focused sets to locate gaps. Then attempt each mock without checking explanations, review your errors, and explain the controlling condition before trying again. The suggested 60-minute focused-set durations are study settings. The 80% practice target is a revision guide and is not a conversion to the official scaled score of 170.

Current version and scope

The course follows the September 2026 LEED AP with Specialty candidate handbook and July 2026 BD+C rating system. As checked on October 12, 2026, the BD+C v5 exam is in its beta phase, available in English as a standalone specialty exam. Beta score reports are delayed; the final exam is expected in February 2027, subject to change. Recheck the current official handbook and references before booking your exam.

The real specialty format is 100 single-answer questions in 120 minutes. Published knowledge-domain counts total 85; the remaining 15 have no published domain allocation. Each training mock uses that 85-count core plus 15 self-distributed reinforcement questions. All training questions count toward your practice score. These tests do not reproduce confidential scored/unscored placement, official difficulty or psychometric scoring.

This is a specialty practice course for learners with green-building foundations. It does not include the Green Associate exam portion, video lectures, software laboratories, an exam voucher or a professional credential. Practice results cannot guarantee a pass.

BrightRung Learning is independent of the U.S. Green Building Council® (USGBC) and Green Business Certification Inc.™ (GBCI), and does not administer the LEED AP program. A v5 New Construction project has 84 points, 5 Electrification points, 8 Enhanced Energy Efficiency points and 100% renewable site energy. Its embodied-carbon reduction is 12%. What prevents a Platinum claim?

Before you begin

  • Read technical project scenarios and explanations in English.
  • Have introductory green-building knowledge, ideally at LEED Green Associate study level.
  • Use basic arithmetic, percentages, weighted averages and unit conversions; a calculator is useful during study.
  • Study the current official candidate handbook and applicable LEED v5 references alongside these practice tests.
  • No paid software, site access or cloud account is needed for the practice questions.

Who this is for

  • Candidates preparing for the LEED AP Building Design + Construction specialty exam based on LEED v5.
  • Architects, engineers, construction professionals and sustainability coordinators with green-building foundations.
  • Learners moving from v4 study materials who need to distinguish current v5 requirements and assessment boundaries.
  • Core and Shell or New Construction team members practicing project decisions, documentation and cross-system reasoning.
