More about this course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

A loop that almost works, a list shared by two names, or an exception raised at the wrong point can change an entire program. These practice tests help you work through those details instead of memorizing isolated definitions.

Prepare for the IT Specialist Python objective domain published by Pearson in 2025. Work through 320 original questions across six tests, with an explanation for every answer choice and a practical study tip for every question. Code uses stable Python 3 features.

Build skills before adding time pressure

  • Test 1: 60 questions on data types, list and string operations, precedence and operator selection.
  • Test 2: 60 questions on branching, boundaries, loop state and nested iteration.
  • Test 3: 60 questions on file and console I/O, documentation and functions.
  • Test 4: 60 questions on debugging, exception handling, unit testing and standard-library tools.
  • Tests 5 and 6: two fresh 40-question, 50-minute mock tests spanning all six domains.

The timed mocks target the original selected-response format, for which the official tutorial gives a range of 36–40 questions and a 50-minute limit. The original Python exam remains available alongside Next Generation. These tests use single-answer and multiple-answer questions; they do not reproduce drag-and-drop widgets or the Next Generation VS Code lab. Next Generation also has a different no-lab form. Practise writing and running your own Python programs alongside these questions if you plan to take a performance-based form.

Turn mistakes into specific next steps

Start with the first four tests without rushing. Trace names, values, branches and file positions on paper before revealing the answer. Review why each tempting alternative fails. Then take a fresh timed test, investigate missed objectives, and use the second mock after revisiting those skills.

An 80% practice target is provided to guide revision. It is our learning target, not the official exam's scaled passing score or a prediction of your result. Domain allocations are our editorial choices; the current objective document does not publish exact domain weights.

This is an independent preparation resource. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Pearson, Certiport or Python's maintainers. Exam registration, vouchers and official software are not included. No exam result is guaranteed.
