More about this course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

A correct formula can still lead to the wrong decision when the inventory method, cash timing, asset base, or capacity assumption changes. These CMA Part 1 practice questions help you connect the calculation to its conditions and explain what the result means.

Work through 440 original single-choice questions in six tests, covering External Financial Reporting Decisions; Planning, Budgeting, and Forecasting; Performance Management; Cost Management; Internal Controls; and Technology and Analytics. The scope follows the IMA outlines effective September 1, 2024, checked for 2026 preparation.

Your practice path

  • External Reporting — 60 questions: statement links, consolidation, inventory, tax, leases, revenue, and specified U.S. GAAP/IFRS differences.
  • Planning and Budgeting — 80 questions: strategy, standards, learning curves, probability, operating schedules, cash requirements, and financial projections.
  • Performance — 60 questions: variances, responsibility centers, transfer pricing, customer margins, ROI, residual income, and scorecards.
  • Cost Management — 60 questions: costing methods, joint costs, ABC, service allocation, capacity, process improvement, and quality costs.
  • Controls and Technology — 80 questions: governance, control evidence, systems security, continuity, data management, finance technology, models, and visualization.
  • MCQ Mock — 100 questions: one 180-minute test using the official domain proportions of 15%, 20%, 20%, 15%, 15%, and 15%.

Every question includes a worked or reasoned explanation, feedback for all four options, and a focused study tip. Calculations state their relevant assumptions. Scenarios ask you to distinguish a reported allocation from a real saving, an accounting profit from available cash, or a model's fit from dependable evidence for a decision.

How to study

  1. Complete the relevant focused test and explain your reasoning before opening the feedback.
  2. Record the rule, assumption, or calculation step behind each mistake. Revisit that topic and solve the question again from its conditions.
  3. Attempt the MCQ mock in one timed sitting, then use its explanations to direct your next review.

The 80% practice target is a course learning setting, not a conversion of IMA's scaled passing score of 360/500. Focused-test time limits are study arrangements; the mock's 100 questions and 180 minutes correspond to the real MCQ section.

This course covers that MCQ section only. The real exam also has a separate 60-minute section: two case-based sets in most English delivery locations, while China, Japan, and Taiwan (China) retain the essay format. Check the requirements for your location and examination window. This practice course does not reproduce case-based interactions, essays, partial-credit rules, or the official scoring system.

This is independent exam preparation from BrightRung Learning, not an official IMA course. It does not guarantee a pass or replace the official study materials and examination requirements.
