  • Distinguish ongoing monitoring, periodic assessments and external quality assessment requirements.
  • Evaluate audit reports and action plans using evidence, root causes, scope and audience needs.
  • Apply the sequence for communicating unacceptable risk and confirm corrective actions using a risk-based approach.
  • Practice two 100-question, 120-minute mocks with the published Part 3 domain proportions.

More about this course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

You can know an audit standard and still hesitate between two plausible responses. Should the chief audit executive revise the plan, report a limitation, seek a management response, or escalate accepted risk? These practice tests help you make that distinction using the facts, responsibilities and constraints in the case.

The course follows the 2025 CIA Part 3: Internal Audit Function syllabus, using the English expanded specifications and the 2024 Global Internal Audit Standards. It covers internal audit operations, the internal audit plan, quality of the internal audit function, and engagement results and monitoring. It does not follow the former Business Knowledge for Internal Auditing syllabus.

What the six tests do

  • Operations: 40 questions on providers, budgets, people, technology, strategy and stakeholder communication.
  • Planning: 40 questions on the audit universe, risk priorities, dynamic plans and reliance on other assurance providers.
  • Quality: 40 questions on internal and external assessments, nonconformance and meaningful performance measures.
  • Results and monitoring: 80 questions on report quality, action plans, residual risk, risk acceptance and follow-up.
  • Mock 1: 100 questions in 120 minutes, integrating the four domains.
  • Mock 2: 100 questions in 120 minutes, changing the decision conditions rather than repeating the first mock.

Each question has one best answer, feedback on all four options, a case-based explanation and a specific study suggestion. The two mocks use 25/15/15/45 questions across the four domains, matching the published domain percentages. Detailed subtopic allocations are our own design; The IIA has not supplied an exact item count for each subtopic in the specifications used here.

Use the explanations to improve your judgment

Start with the focused tests. After an incorrect answer, identify the condition that distinguishes your choice from the best response. Revisit the relevant standard or syllabus topic, then complete each mock in one timed sitting. Review correct answers too when your reasoning was uncertain.

The 80% practice target is author-defined. The official examination uses a scaled passing score of 600; these practice percentages do not convert to that scale or predict an examination result. The topical-requirement coverage reflects the official reference policy checked in October 2026: current applicability principles and cybersecurity are included, while detailed requirements scheduled for examination testing in 2027 are excluded.
