  • Select telemetry and service-level measures that reflect user experience.
  • Diagnose scrape failures, label identity problems, and exposition issues.
  • Apply PromQL selectors, rates, aggregation, vector matching, and histogram queries.

More about this course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

A query can run successfully and still answer the wrong question. A dashboard can look healthy while users see failures. These practice tests help you reason about Prometheus data, collection, instrumentation, and alerting before choosing an answer.

Work through 360 original English questions across six tests. Four focused tests develop observability, Prometheus fundamentals, PromQL, instrumentation, and alerting skills. Two mixed mock exams contain 60 questions with a 90-minute limit each, matching the published PCA exam length and duration. Their domain allocations approximate the official weights using whole questions.

What you will practice

  • Distinguish metrics, logs, and traces, and interpret service-level indicators and objectives.
  • Diagnose scrape configuration, target discovery, label identity, and exposition problems.
  • Select and aggregate series, handle counter resets, match vectors, and reason about histogram and timestamp metrics.
  • Choose suitable exporters and instrumentation, control cardinality, and design useful metric names.
  • Follow alert states, route notifications, and build dashboards that support troubleshooting.

Each question includes feedback for every option, a worked explanation, and a targeted study suggestion. Examples distinguish classic histogram queries from native histogram concepts and state relevant assumptions. The course follows the current published PCA curriculum; it does not claim a software release number that the curriculum does not specify.

A practical study sequence

  1. Complete the focused tests and explain why each rejected option fails.
  2. Review the indicated official documentation and try your own small examples.
  3. Take a mock exam without notes, then revisit the objectives behind missed answers.
  4. Use the second mock to check reasoning under changed conditions.

The 75% practice threshold mirrors the published exam pass percentage. A practice result does not predict an official result. This is independent preparation material, with original questions rather than recalled or confidential exam items. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by CNCF, the Linux Foundation, or the Prometheus project. The certification exam and any registration fees are not included.
