  • Evaluate generated answers against current specifications and independent evidence.
  • Choose appropriate Copilot IDE, CLI and GitHub workflows for a stated task.
  • Distinguish supplied context, model knowledge and processing stages.
  • Write prompts with clear constraints, consistent examples and measurable outcomes.
  • Inspect code, test data and assertions for behavior, integration and security gaps.
  • Apply content-exclusion and public-code policies at their documented scope.

More about this course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

A Copilot answer can look convincing while using the wrong API, missing a requirement, or relying on a control that does not apply to the current workflow. Prepare for GH-300 by practicing the decisions behind these situations: what context to supply, which feature to use, what a test actually proves, and how to interpret policy and exclusion boundaries.

420 original English practice questions are organized into six tests. Four topic sets let you focus on weak areas; two mixed practice exams each contain 60 questions and allow 100 minutes. The mixed sets follow the six domain-weight ranges in the GitHub Copilot study guide effective August 7, 2026. Their question count is a training design, not a claim about the official exam's fixed length.

Choose your starting point

  • AI responsibility, data flow and model limits: 80 questions.
  • Copilot features across IDE, CLI and GitHub workflows: 100 questions.
  • Prompt engineering, development and verification: 80 questions.
  • Privacy, content exclusions and safeguards: 40 questions.
  • Two mixed practice exams: 60 questions each, 100 minutes per attempt.

Learn from each decision

Every question includes feedback for each option, an explanation of the deciding conditions, and a study tip. Scenarios cover prompt and tool boundaries, generated-code behavior, unit and integration evidence, synthetic test data, performance trade-offs, and the scope of privacy controls. Some questions ask you to inspect small Python, SQL, configuration or command examples.

Current product behavior matters. This course distinguishes the standalone Copilot CLI from older examples, addresses prompt files and agent workflows with their applicable harness constraints, and treats Spark retirement as a dated product change. Where official product documents differ on a control's scope, questions keep the applicable conditions explicit instead of treating every surface as equivalent.

Use the tests deliberately

  1. Work through a topic set and record why you chose each answer.
  2. Review every option's feedback, including questions you answered correctly.
  3. Use the study tips to revisit the relevant concept and practice in your own permitted environment.
  4. Complete the mixed exams without notes, then return to the topic sets for weak areas.

The 70% practice threshold is a study setting; it is not a conversion to the official scaled passing score. These are practice tests with written explanations, rather than video lessons or a hosted lab environment. A Copilot subscription is not needed to attempt the questions, although hands-on experience can help you connect the scenarios to your work.

This independent preparation course is not endorsed by GitHub or Microsoft. It contains original practice material, not official exam questions, and does not guarantee a passing result.

A project pins library version 4.2. Copilot proposes client.rotateCredentials(), but the installed public API and the version 4.2 reference contain no such method. The explanation is confident and names a plausible documentation section. What should the developer do before adopting this fix?

Before you begin

  • Basic GitHub and Git knowledge.
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language.
  • Ability to read short Python, SQL and configuration examples; advanced Python expertise is not required.
  • No Copilot subscription is required to take these practice tests.

Who this is for

  • Developers preparing for the GitHub Copilot GH-300 certification.
  • Engineers who want to make better decisions about AI-assisted development and testing.
  • Team members learning the boundaries of Copilot privacy controls and policies.
