  • Choose acquisition methods using volatility, source scope, consistency and operational constraints.
  • Distinguish content integrity, evidence authenticity, legal authority and chain-of-custody records.
  • Interpret file, memory, log, registry, mobile and database artifacts with stated platform assumptions.
  • Build timelines using timezone, clock uncertainty, source identity and event deconfliction.
  • Corroborate network, web, cloud, email and malware effects rather than equating alerts with proof.
  • Assess deletion, encryption, carving, concealment and tool limitations without promising impossible recovery.
  • Apply eDiscovery, quality assurance and forensic reporting principles to reproducible findings.
  • Practice the CHFI Blueprint v4 subdomain allocation in two original 150-question timed mocks.

More about this course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

Digital evidence is easy to misread when acquisition scope, clock behavior or a tool's limitations are overlooked. A copied file is not a full disk image. A matching hash does not reconstruct an undocumented handoff. A suspicious request does not, by itself, establish a successful attack. These practice tests help you make the evidence-based decisions expected in CHFI knowledge preparation.

The course contains 360 original questions in four tests, aligned to the six domains and ordered subdomains of the published CHFI Exam Blueprint v4 for exam 312-49. Training courseware version numbers are separate from the exam blueprint. You will work through forensic science, regulations and ethics, digital evidence, investigation methodology, digital forensics, and tool selection.

What is included

  • Two 30-question cross-domain practice sets for evidence foundations and investigation decisions.
  • Two 150-question mock exams with 240-minute time limits and the blueprint's published subdomain allocations.
  • An explanation for every answer option, an overall rationale, and a focused study task after each question.
  • Scenarios involving Windows, Linux, macOS, mobile devices, databases, email, networks, web applications, cloud services, IoT and OT systems.

The questions emphasize acquisition choices, integrity and custody, file and memory artifacts, source-aware timelines, attack-effect corroboration, anti-forensic limits, eDiscovery, and defensible reporting. Selected items use short hexadecimal, Python and SQL examples; other items ask you to distinguish a tool's capability from what the evidence actually supports.

How to use the tests

  1. Complete the two shorter practice sets and explain why each alternative fails.
  2. Take a mock under its time limit before reading the feedback.
  3. Revisit weak objectives, then take the second mock with its changed conditions and evidence states.

All questions are single-answer multiple choice. The 80% practice target is self-set; EC-Council's real cut score varies by exam form. This independent question-based course prepares knowledge decisions. It includes no commercial forensic software, hands-on lab assessment, official training eligibility, exam voucher or certification award, and it does not reproduce confidential exam questions. Confirm the current exam arrangements and language availability with the certification provider when scheduling.
