More about this course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

A catalog can tell you where a field lives without telling you whether its definition is approved, which version produced a report, or whether its lineage is complete. Preparing for the CDMP Metadata Specialist exam means learning to distinguish these kinds of evidence and use them together.

This practice course contains 320 original English questions across six tests. Four 30-question practice sets develop the core decisions, followed by two 100-question mocks with a 90-minute time limit. The shorter sets use a self-directed 36-minute practice allowance. All questions use a single-best-answer format with four options.

What the questions cover

  • Business, technical and operational metadata, glossary definitions and semantic relationships.
  • Metadata sources, repositories, metamodels, registry concepts and exchange limitations.
  • Centralized, distributed, hybrid and bidirectional architecture tradeoffs.
  • Harvesting, synchronization, versioning, lineage stitching and impact analysis.
  • Stewardship, approval controls, sensitive metadata, ingestion and retention.
  • Coverage, quality, adoption and service measures, plus connections with modeling, integration, master data, analytics and BI.

Every question includes an explanation, feedback for each option and a study suggestion. Scenarios ask you to interpret source evidence, resolve scope differences, check effective dates, identify missing relationships and distinguish a proposed design from observed execution.

A practical study sequence

Complete the shorter sets first and write down the condition that ruled out each distractor. Then attempt each full-length mock before opening its feedback. Review mistakes by task: meaning, source authority, architecture, integration, lineage, governance or measurement. Use your own copy of DAMA-DMBOK2 Revised Edition to deepen the concepts behind difficult choices.

The course follows the current public Metadata Specialist scope and its connections across the DMBOK. Specialist subdomain weights are not publicly specified in the sources reviewed, so the mix is a teaching design. The 70% practice target is a study checkpoint; official Practitioner and Master requirements also involve other exams and applicable certification conditions. This independent course supplies preparation questions and explanations. DAMA International does not endorse this course, and no exam-pass outcome is promised.
