About Course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

A cheaper depot can miss the service promise. Extra plant capacity can create idle commitments. A correct material calculation can still fail if stock arrives too late. Practice connecting those conditions for CIPS Supply Network Design, L6M9, rather than selecting a strategy from one attractive number.

Follow the effects across the network

Work through network configuration, ownership, location and capacity choices; operations strategy and performance trade-offs; and loading, sequencing, scheduling and resource planning. Scenarios connect MRP, MRP II, ERP and constraint management with the information and resources actually available.

The 330 original questions in five tests include three 70-question topic sets and two adapted 60-question, 90-minute timed sets. The topic sets develop individual decisions. The timed sets combine them with conditions such as shared upstream constraints, non-avoidable cost, quarantined supply and changing bottlenecks.

Challenge your first interpretation

Every question includes a condition-based explanation, feedback for every option and a syllabus-based review prompt. Identify which operation is focal, which cost can change, and which resource is genuinely available before selecting an answer. After a mistake, explain why the nearest alternative needs a different assumption.

Prior procurement and operations study appropriate to L6M9 is recommended, along with basic cost, capacity and timing calculations.

The timed sets adapt matching scenarios into equally weighted selection questions. They do not reproduce drag-and-drop controls, shared option-use restrictions or CIPS scenario weighting. The 70% target is a revision measure rather than a grading prediction. This independent resource follows the 2018 Syllabus Version 2 scope and has no CIPS endorsement.

What Will You Learn?

  • Evaluate network dependencies, logistical location choices and whole-network value.
  • Distinguish make/buy, insourcing, outsourcing, vertical integration and offshoring using their actual boundaries.
  • Compare capacity scale, timing, increments, inventory smoothing and break-even assumptions.
  • Align operations capabilities with business aims, market needs and the five performance objectives.
  • Distinguish local improvements, genuine trade-offs and changes to feasible performance.
  • Apply resource planning, scheduling and interface decisions to realistic constraints.
  • Contrast push/pull, TOC, MRP, MRP II and ERP and assess their data and capacity limits.
