About Course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

An alias can change a list you did not intend to modify, and short-circuit evaluation can prevent an exception from happening at all. These IT Specialist Python practice tests help you trace those details, choose suitable code and diagnose why an almost-correct solution fails.

Follow values and execution step by step

Practise data types, collections, operators, branching and loops. Work through file and console input/output, documentation, functions, debugging, exceptions, unit testing and standard-library tools. Questions use stable Python 3 behaviour and explicit code so you can reason about the result rather than rely on a remembered definition.

Every answer choice has feedback, with an overall explanation and practical study tip. For example, a falsey first operand can be returned by an and expression without evaluating its second operand. The explanations identify the relevant value, type, branch or state change and show why the alternatives do not describe the execution.

The 320 questions comprise four focused 60-question tests and two 40-question mocks with 50-minute timers. Study a topic, trace uncertain examples independently, then attempt a mixed mock without notes. Review the deciding execution step before the second attempt.

The scope follows Pearson's stated 2025 Python objective domain and targets the original selected-response exam format. It is not retired MTA preparation or a recreation of a separate practical-code assessment. Basic Python study is recommended. The 80% target is author-defined practice feedback. This independent course includes no official examination questions or vendor endorsement.

What Will You Learn?

  • Determine Python expression types and select operators that meet precise requirements.
  • Trace list mutation, slicing, branching, loop termination and nested iteration.
  • Choose safe file modes and interpret console input, formatted output and command-line arguments.
  • Analyze function calls, defaults, returns, comments, docstrings and documentation tools.
  • Diagnose syntax, runtime and logic errors and reason about exception flow.
  • Select unittest assertions and apply math, datetime, random, io, os and sys tools.
