CDMP Data Modeling & Design Practice Tests: Rules & History

About Course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

A model can be tidy and still encode the wrong business rule. These CDMP Data Modeling and Design specialist practice tests help you decide whether identifiers, relationships, dependencies and historical records represent what the business actually needs.

Test the rule behind the structure

Practise entities, attributes, keys, domains, cardinality, optionality, normalisation and subtype rules. Compare relational, dimensional, temporal, object-oriented, fact-based and NoSQL approaches. Applied questions connect fact grain, weighted allocations, history selection and redundancy with the consistency and maintenance consequences of a design.

Every option includes feedback, with an overall explanation and review prompt. A shared sale allocated to two groups, for example, must use each membership weight at the underlying fact before aggregation. These explanations help you locate a grain or dependency error rather than select a model because its diagram looks familiar.

Use workshops to prepare for integrated decisions

The 320 questions comprise four 30-question practice workshops and two 100-question mocks with 90-minute timers. Work through core rules and design choices, record why alternatives fail, then use a mock to combine modelling with metadata, governance, quality, integration and lifecycle needs.

Prior DMBOK study and basic modelling familiarity are recommended. The scope uses DAMA-DMBOK2 Revised Edition principles and cross-domain connections. Specialist topic allocations are author-designed; they are not unpublished official weights. A course result does not award CDMP certification or satisfy its other requirements. This independent written resource includes no official examination questions and is not endorsed by DAMA.

What Will You Learn?

  • Translate business definitions and requirements into entities, domains, keys, and relationship constraints.
  • Analyze dependencies and normalization choices without assuming a surrogate key removes redundancy.
  • Evaluate dimensional grain, historical context, conformance, and aggregation errors.
  • Compare modeling schemes and map logical requirements to physical designs while preserving meaning.
  • Diagnose model drift, incomplete lineage, unclear approvals, and misleading quality metrics.
  • Apply modeling decisions to governance, integration, master data, security, and lifecycle requirements.
