  • Predict chart and timechart output from aggregation, axis and series settings.
  • Apply eval, search, where and fillnull while preserving the intended data and Boolean conditions.
  • Choose transaction or stats and interpret session boundaries, duration and member counts correctly.
  • Validate FX extractions and distinguish field aliases from calculated-field normalization.
  • Use tags, event types, macro arguments and workflow actions for reusable analysis.
  • Build and interpret data model datasets, Pivot fields and CIM mappings.

More about this course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

Knowing a command name is different from predicting its result. A search can return a plausible table while using the wrong aggregation, merging unrelated sessions, or applying a knowledge object before its input exists. These practice tests help you recognize those mistakes and choose a solution from the actual event data and reporting requirement.

Prepare for the Splunk Core Certified Power User (SPLK-1002) with 300 original questions in six tests. The course follows the current ten-domain blueprint and its 32 numbered objectives. It focuses on SPL and search-time knowledge objects: chart and timechart, eval and filtering, transactions, the Field Extractor, aliases and calculated fields, tags and event types, macros, workflow actions, data models, Pivot and the Common Information Model.

Build the reasoning before testing the pace

The first four tests provide focused practice:

  • 56 questions: SPL reports, filtering and transactions. Interpret output shape, distinguish nulls from meaningful zeros, and check correlation identities, time boundaries and reporting units.
  • 38 questions: field extraction, aliases and calculated fields. Validate captures and positional schemas, resolve target-field conflicts, and identify unavailable calculation inputs.
  • 40 questions: tags, event types, macros and workflows. Separate classification from search expansion, inspect macro interfaces, and configure meaningful investigation actions.
  • 36 questions: data models, Pivot and CIM. Apply inherited constraints, distinguish field visibility from membership, and normalize event meanings rather than merely renaming fields.

The final two tests are 65-question mock exams with 57-minute limits. Both cover all ten domains, using integer allocations that approximate the official percentages. They combine familiar concepts with output tracing, counterexamples and configuration faults. Some core rules recur because they remain essential to correct decisions; the goal is to explain the condition that determines an answer.

Learn from each choice

Every question includes an answer explanation, feedback for every option, a study tip and relevant official documentation. Use the feedback to identify why a tempting alternative fails under the stated conditions. Several questions ask you to trace values, classify concrete events, or distinguish a valid expression from an invalid dependency. Other questions test the knowledge-object concepts needed to make those decisions confidently.

Use a repeatable study method

  1. Complete the four focused tests and explain your mistakes in your own words.
  2. Review the linked documentation and change one condition in a missed scenario to test your understanding.
  3. Attempt each mock without notes in 57 minutes, then revisit both correct guesses and incorrect answers.

The course uses an 80% learning target. This is not a claim about Splunk's official passing score or a guarantee of certification. The practice content is in English and uses SPL rather than SPL2. No particular Splunk product release is presented as an official exam version. These are independent practice questions, not actual exam questions; the course is not affiliated with or endorsed by Splunk. It does not include video lessons or access to a Splunk lab.

For a table with region as rows, product as columns, and total revenue in each cell, which suffix fits event-level sales data?

Before you begin

  • Basic Splunk search experience, including pipelines, fields, sourcetypes and simple stats searches.
  • Ability to read short SPL examples and reason about event fields and timestamps.
  • Optional access to a Splunk environment for further practice; no lab access is included.

Who this is for

  • Candidates preparing for the Splunk Core Certified Power User SPLK-1002 exam.
  • Splunk users moving from basic searches to reusable knowledge objects and structured analysis.
  • Analysts who want to diagnose plausible but incorrect search results and normalization rules.
