Overview

What you’ll practice

  • Distinguish testing objectives, principles, activities and responsibilities in realistic team situations.
  • Choose test levels, test types and lifecycle practices that address a stated testing need.
  • Apply partitions, boundary values, decision tables and state transitions to concrete test-design tasks.
  • Interpret coverage, review findings, risk information and estimates to make testing decisions.
  • Improve test priorities and defect reports using explicit constraints and useful evidence.
  • Use three timed mocks and option-by-option feedback to identify gaps across all six syllabus chapters.
More about this course

This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.

Knowing the testing terms is a start. Applying them is the next step.

Can you choose the missing boundary test, follow a sequence of state transitions, prioritize tests with dependencies, or turn an unclear failure report into useful evidence? This practice course helps you move from recognizing a definition to explaining a testing decision.

Prepare for ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level v4.0 with 420 questions aligned to the v4.0.1 syllabus. Build your understanding in focused banks, then reserve three separate mock exams for fresh timed attempts.

What is included

  • Foundations and the Development Lifecycle — 100 questions: testing objectives, principles, activities, team roles, test levels and types, maintenance, and development approaches.
  • Test Analysis and Design — 90 questions: equivalence partitions, boundary values, decision tables, state transitions, white-box coverage, experience-based techniques, user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Static Testing, Management and Tools — 110 questions: reviews, planning, estimation, priorities, risk, monitoring, configuration, defect reports and tool support.
  • Three mixed mock exams — 40 questions and 60 minutes each: all six chapters, included in the 420-question total.

The 300 focused questions are study banks. Use Practice mode in short sessions of 15–25 questions; you do not need to complete a whole bank at once. The three mocks follow the published chapter allocation of 8, 6, 4, 11, 9 and 2 questions, with a 65% passing threshold for practice.

Learn from the options you almost chose

Every question includes feedback for each answer option, an overall explanation, a study takeaway and an official syllabus reference. Applied questions make you work with the information given: identify uncovered partitions, reason through valid decision rules, calculate estimates, and compare test priorities under explicit constraints.

Some items establish essential vocabulary; others ask you to interpret a scenario or perform a testing task. The aim is to understand why an answer fits, and which changed condition would make another answer appropriate.

A useful way to study

  1. Answer a short focused set before opening the explanations.
  2. Review both mistakes and answers you guessed correctly.
  3. State the deciding rule in your own words and check the syllabus where needed.
  4. Take a fresh mock under timed conditions.
  5. Return to the techniques or distinctions that still need work.

Who this course is for

Use these tests alongside Foundation Level study if you are entering software testing, preparing for certification, or refreshing your understanding of testing practices. This is a practice-test course without video lectures. You do not need programming experience or a paid testing tool.

BrightRung Learning provides independent exam preparation. These are practice questions, not actual examination questions, and the course is not endorsed by ISTQB. A practice score is a revision signal rather than a guarantee of passing the certification exam.
